Jackie & Bryan | Married
Our first wedding of the season couldn't have been with a sweeter couple. Jackie & Bryan got married on May 14th, in the beautiful sunshine, surrounded by their families and friends. It was so much fun to be a part of their day, and to get to capture all their special traditions. The day began with the groom arriving at the bride's home, and conquering a special set of 'tests' in order for him to enter and find his bride. These enduring tests meant that Bryan had to sing a song in Chinese, shake what his momma gave him, transport fruit in odd ways with his groomsmen, and finally ended with the traditional offer of lai see to Jackie's bridesmaids guarding the door. It was absolutely hilarious and adorable to watch, especially seeing all of Jackie's family enjoying the festivities. The perfect way to start the day.
Once inside, Jackie and Bryan performed a tea ceremony, after which Bryan departed and Jackie changed into her wedding dress. The ceremony was held in the Citadel Theatre's Shoctor Lobby that was flooded with beautiful light, and the reception was in the gorgeous Chateau Lacombe Hotel. Two cultures came together that day in the most beautiful ways. We are constantly reminded of how important family is on a wedding day. A wedding is not just two individuals coming together, it's two families that bring their blessings and traditions with them in celebrating the couple in love.
We were so grateful that we got to photograph this wedding, and we hope our photos share with you the love we experienced that day. Congratulations to Jackie & Bryan!
